In the Fall 2014 issue of in Magazine, Mollie Burlingame, a member of the in consulting committee, sat down with Jack, her new kindergartner, before he started classes to see how he was feeling about beginning school. Now that school’s been in session for over a month, Mollie asked Jack a few more questions to see what he had to say about school now.
Mom: What do you think about school now that you’ve started it?
Jack: I like it. I like to play with my friends.
Mom: Is school what you thought it would be like before you started it?
Jack: It’s really better than I thought it’d be.
Mom: What is the most important thing you’ve learned so far at school?
Jack: Doing the c’s and the a’s and stuff.
Mom: How long is school?
Jack: The whole day until your Mom comes and picks you up.
Mom: What do you think Mom is doing while you are at school?
Mom: What do you think your brother is doing while you are at school?
Jack: Going to Kristen’s house. (which is daycare)
Mom: Do you think your brother misses you?
Jack: I don’t know…if he says he does.
