Dress Mommy Outfit Challenge – Day 5

Dress Mommy Outfit Challenge – Day 5

20150320_101855

Today is the last day of our ‘Dress Mommy Challenge!’ Next week, we’re going to showcase reader submissions. If you’re up for the challenge, have your kiddos choose your clothes for a day or two and send them our way! You can email your photos to us at inmagazine@bemidjipioneer.com!

Bethany’s Experience of Day Five:
I got to wear jeans!!

For only 2 minutes. Then it was back to the dress clothes. *smile*
.
My older daughter actually chose jeans, momentarily, But then I realized she was only choosing them to make me happy (such a sweet girl!) so I backed off.
.
She actually chose a very dressy outfit today. A slim black skirt and a rather fancy top, with ruffly sparkly flowers. I did insist on a tank underneath, so I wouldn’t look too bare, and tights, because it’s still cold, and both kids opted to stay with the black theme.
.
My younger daughter picked out the necklace — ha, you can certainly tell it is her favorite since it is the same one she picked on Monday. And the earrings, which while not my taste, certainly grabbed her attention immediately.

.
The shoes were a bit of an issue as the younger daughter initially chose a different pair and her older sister didn’t love them. Then, they both agreed on a pair of open-toed metallic-looking bronze wedges, but open toes and tights apparently don’t mesh well. So the short black boots won out in the end. And I’m personally thrilled because they’re a favorite of mine, though they can be hard to pair with things, I think.
.
I feel pretty all right in this whole outfit, though I do feel like I should be going out on the town or something.
.
I told my older daughter last night, as I do every Thursday, “Hey! One more day ’til the weekend!” and she actually got sad — just because she wouldn’t be able to dress me anymore.
.
So this is the end of our experiment. Really, though, I’ve enjoyed this week. I’ve enjoyed seeing the girls’ enthusiasm and getting more of a glimpse into their personalities.
.
Do I miss my pants? Yes. But it was OK. I actually got more comfortable with with the skirts as the week went on.
.
I did try to think this morning, though, if there has ever been a single week during which I haven’t worn pants and couldn’t come up with a single instance.
.
So it was a new experience in more than one way.
.
Thank you for following along.

Abby’s Experience of Day Five:

This morning was similar to Wednesday night in that I had to break out the cookies to get Audrey to participate (good thing its day five because she’s got me figured out now).

She first chose a black floral top, a long gold necklace with mint green beads, this light green cardigan and army green skinny jeans. I originally thought this outfit was going to look too green heavy but when I put it on I actually LOVED it. It had that “weird combo but it works” look, is that even a thing? I think I might wear that outfit again. However, it didn’t last long because she then found this grey dress and asked me to put it on instead. Being a good sport, I agreed to it. She also needed me to change the necklace (she gets her indecisiveness from me).

She didn’t want me to wear the skinny jeans or the cardigan with this dress but I tried to explain to her that the forecast was snow…turns out a three year old doesn’t care about that sort of thing.

Today is the last day of our ‘Dress Mommy Challenge’ and I can honestly say I have learned a lot from this experience. I am going to post what I learned next week as I embark on a full week of choosing my own outfits again. For now, I’m excited to see that other moms in our community are joining in! We will be posting the adorable submitted photos next week so stay tuned!

If you are up for the challenge, let your kiddos dress you for a day and submit the photos to: inmagazine@bemidjipioneer.com
